Wolfgarou: Good post, there are too many 'fanboys' that refuse to say anything bad about a particular game for whatever reason, maybe they have been following it since its announcement, or maybe they know someone who worked on it, or whatever. In any case, their unbridled ravings about a particular game is of no use to anyone trying to decide whether or not that game is for them.

I've learned to read lot's of opinions, and generally find that the folks that actually spend some time pointing out the things that are wrong with a game are a LOT more valuable than opinions by people that fawn over a given title without question.

Keep posting your opinions, here, and thanks for being honest in your opinions about TOEE.

I tend to find most people appreciate opinions they agree with the most

I actually disagree with that. How else can you learn something? I may think I know a topic well, but if you have a well reasoned argrument that shows another opion to be as good as or better than my own, then I have to bow to you and thank you for broadening my horizons. *Those* are the opinions *I* appreciate the most .... the ones I can learn from ... so by definition ones I disagree with (at least at first).

+ good combat engine
+ turn based
+ good character development
+ good AI

- buggy
- story - what story ?
- too short
- too many *marriage* quests
- not much humor
- too linear

If you like Icewind Dale 1+2, Pool of Radiance 2 ...
this game is for you. It is a real good combat engine
nothing more - nothing less. The old rpg-formula:
kill opponents, get experience and loot, gain levels,
build your characters, kill greater opponents ...

Lets face it, who isn't really torn on this game? I mean, it comes from the makers of arcanum quite possibly the most brillent character creation, equipment, npc realation, story strong games ever, but the graphics and combat were ass (which doesn't stop it being head and shoulders over any rpg ever made IMO). Now comes greyhawk, and what the fudge, the combat is the best of any rpg I have played(well maybe not gothic but they're to different to compare), and now the story, items, are the weak point!
arrrghhh!!!!
