Question about G2 expansion.

Does anyone know if the G2 expansion is going to intergrate into G2, or is it an expansion to be played after the ending of G2?

just a guess but, i don't think it will have too much to do with the main storyline, probably a bunch of cool sidequests and maybe new features.
it obviously takes place somewhere in Khorinis, due to the box shot. That whole northern area never was involved in the games story so maybe theres a portal in the temple that takes us to an "underworld" or something perhaps?

Yes, but has there been any word yet on what TYPE of expansion it is? Does it blend into G2, or does it start up after the end of G2?

Yesterday I read on the website of german gaming magazine that apparently the Website for the Add-on will be online soon (a date was not forthcoming, sadly). Until then we will remain in the dark it seems, and everything we can do is keep guessing and guessing.

Hi!

As announced and promised, you the members of our forum are the first to know about the official statement from Piranha Bytes regarding rumors about the addon.
Straight and uncensored from the Piranha vale:

Hi folks,

in advance an apology that we did not respond for such a long time. Our silence had legal/contractual reasons.

There`s a good and a bad news. First of all the bad one:
While we strictly kept to our agreement not to let slip through any information, other sources used the time to reveal informations that do not reflect the truth.

The good news: The time of hiding is over. Shortly we will launch a complete new website for the addon, together with many brand new facts and first hand material from the very core of the development team!

To begin with, here on the forum you can read about the hot news straight from Piranha Bytes (and therefore some official facts about the addon).

There is an additional world map including a vast number of new and varied locations. The new landscape has become far greater than we had planned. The complete new path of the plot needs itīs space. In other words: the landscape is greater than the "20%" previously mentioned.

The addonīs story is imbedded in the original Gothic2. Your character learns about a new place and has to find a way to reach it before he can start the new adventure.
The major part of the 100 new npcs appears in the new world, but on the other hand you will also meet some fresh characters in parts of the game you might already know.

In busy speculations through several threads people assume that the mages of water(faith of Adanos) inherit a special role to play in the addon. This is absolute correct. The mages of water (from Gothic1) and their secret order "The Ring of Water" are running like a red string through the entire story.

There are new guilds. One of them you can join in addition to the guild you are already in. This new guild is some kind of a subguild that does not replace your actual guild.

Not only that, of course there will be new monsters, weapons, spells, armor, cutscenes and movies.

But that seem to be enough details about the addon for today.
For those of you who are annoyed about the recently released informations and fear to know to much already: forget them and get excited about many new surprises! And donīt belive in any information that does not come from us .

More news on the official addon page coming soon.

Farewell

Piranha Bytes
