IMO Gothic is only playable on a P3-450 if you have 512MB and GeForce2 GTS. With less than 256 MB you shouldnīt even try it.

If you have a fast internet connection you can download the demo. And keep in mind that the full game needs a bit more power.

No. I have a Voodoo5 now, on a TBird 850.
I had a GeForce2-MX before, it was a lot slower than the Voodoo5. Thatīs why I said GTS.

Then expect the worst.

Why donīt you look it up somewhere in the depth of the graphics properties?

I have p3 450, 192 mb ram, aureal vortex2 and grforce2 mx. And Gothic is quite ok playable with maxed settings. Except new camp (I used to drop the range down to 20% - 40% in new camp) and swamp camp at night. Under well configured win98se (permanenet swapfile, constant filecache, increased file system cache, nothing in background, etc.)

I have pentium III 866 mhz, 384 megs ram, Nvidia Riva TNT2 with 32 mb video memory (which is my worst bottleneck for Gothic), and Windows ME.

Running Gothic at 1024*768, 16 bit color.

Frequent defrag, everything turned off but Explorer and Systray, and I STILL have occasional slowdowns.

Don't try to play Gothic on a machine slower than 650 mhz, or without a REALLY good 3d card. Even if it would run, you'd have to turn off all the extra visual goodies, which would seriously strip the game of its atmosphere and realism.

And THAT's assuming your system is clean and tweaked to the maximum, and has a ton of ram and video memory in the bargain. Running Gothic is more demanding than even Max Payne.

Just a note, i've got 1Gig Athlon, 256 meg and a geforce 2 400mx, Gothic runs very well with most of the special effect goodies...only slows a little if alot of movement on the screen...best res 800x600
