GameSpot's highly acclaimed RPG expert, Desslock, has posted up another one of his famous ramblings. It is titled Desslock's Ramblings - D&D Trio: Neverwinter Nights (Part 4), Baldur's Gate Mods and Icewind Dale 2.
The Neverwinter Nights part deals with the recent hand-off of the publishing rights from Interplay to Infogrames. Desslock then continues with some thoughts on Icewind Dale 2 and concludes the article with a short note on 'Darkest Day', a Baldur's Gate 2 modification.
BTW, thanks to Jay for the heads-up. |
The Camelot Herald has some new information on the realm rankings system.
Here's what it is about:
Why has this taken so long, and what's new on these pages? Read on.
As we work on the Realm vs. Realm warfare component of Camelot, one of the most important things that we wanted to bring to the DAOC community are a "score board", both of your realm in general (the constantly updating maps of keep and relic seizures) and of your own guilds and characters in particular. We've recently begun collecting data on individual characters within Camelot, both for some exciting new features we're working on, and to better flesh out our Realm War pages.

Eurogamer has published a couple of new screenshots from A Tale in The Desert, a very unconventional MMORPG without fighting. Here's what our Game Info page knows about it:
A Tale in The Desert is a radically different massively multiplayer role-playing game. It contains no combat, no monsters, no player-killers, no swords or armor. Your character advances by completing, participating in, or leading large projects. Negotiation and politics play a very large role. The game has a plot that unfolds in response to player actions, and when the story is over, the game ends. |
Two more Dungeon Siege previews, at least I believe so, have lost control over them: Numero uno is located over at GameZilla, and the other is at Gamespot UK! |
As you have already noticed, the Arx Fatalis Demo originally scheduled for a mid-february release, is not out yet. "We have the demo here already, but still have to solve some hardware compatibility problems. My guess is it will take another 1 or 2 weeks", says Fishtank PR Lady Ulla Wenderoth. Also, she indicated, the demo in its current state weighs in at around 180MB, but that may still change, so don't take this information for granted! |
Wizardry Games on Mobile Phones

German Printmag GameStar's website reports, that SirTech and MobileScopes have agreed on developing a RPG for Mobile Phones based on the story of Wizardry 1-3 (see German Press Release here).
Like Piranha Bytes (Developers of Gothic), MobileScopes is a subsidiary of Phenomedia, so maybe we'll have a chance to see a 'real' new Wizardry RPG from Phenomedia one day, maybe utilizing the new CodeCreatures Engine, developed by Piranha Bytes?! Ok, ok - I'll stop daydreaming :) | Source: GameStar |
At the official site for Dark Space, some info was posted about version 1.3:
Version 1.3 has been patched with ship cost limitations implemented. This means, players will need to capture, hold, and build up planets to access some of the larger ships such as the cruiser and dreadnaught.
- All structures now have increased hull points, making them harder to destroy by bombing.
- All faction defense bases have been refitted with more missiles and beam weapons for point defense.
- The ICC dreadnaught now has railguns. |
The second part of the Dominion Q&A is online at Pharaoh Production's website. Again, they answer questions about their upcoming MMORPG:
When can we expect the first movie?
Pharaoh: Hard to say. I’d think the end of this year, or the beginning of next.
Will creature strengths and skills be identical or will they be randomized? (IE, will all normal goblins have 5 dex, 7 str, 8hp?)
Pharaoh: Our entity system is very advanced and will allow a wide variety of creatures – we are building a system that adds dynamic features on top of the static variables for both items and monsters.
How many items do you plan to have? Will there be a random generator like Diablo 2? Or preset items like your Demise?
Pharaoh: Both preset and dynamically changed. Our Item and Entity system is very large-scale… |
Black Isle Woes Rumors
Posted by Rendelius @ 02:01 - Top

This is listed as rumor, since it it isn't officially confirmed: Fat Babies report that a number of people left Black Isle lately, and it seems that it is related to a yet unannounced project that doesn't seem too inspiring to them:
Black Isle Studios, developers of the Baldur’s Gate series of RPG’s, has reportedly lost several employees lately. These losses include the lead artist on Planescape Torment and TORN, as well as one of the modellers and animators. Also bailing on Black Isle was the main programmer from an as yet unnannounced title, and the concept artist who worked on Icewind Dale.
Word is one of the upcoming BI projects will be a remake of an old Interplay product, which doesn’t seem to be inspiring the employees around the building to stay. No, it won’t be an RPG.
Reportedly resumes are flowing out of Black Isle. This can’t bode well for the development studio. |
