there are actually 2 blacksmiths in the city, that one you mean is the blacksmith where you can do your apprenticeship.
The other one who may increase your strengh is in the lower city near the harbour. I think he wants some gold for that.
You may also join the secret thief-guild in the sewers of the city or you become direct a citizen of the city if you destroy the thief guild for Lord Andre who is located in the Barracks. |

ouch ^^
There are 2 people in the city where you can increase your strengh without beeing in any guild, Carl and Harad.
I have to take a look at the demo just to know what is possible to do. Can you leave the city to the northentrance where the market is ? |

Nope there is only the main entrance ( the entrance from Xardas tower side ) There you can go straight. Untill you rach the smiths. THen you can go 10 steps left and right That's all, ofcourse I'm not counting the forest and things like that. |

I think by now I have consumed the demo, killed all monsters, and ventured almost every every ledge. EDIT: That was before PornCop proved me soooo wrong. Unfortunately, in the demo there's no person to train your strength or dex, but Innos may hear your prayer. And that's a hint.
Apparently, in the demo, the hero's only training options are to train his skill with the bow, learn how to skin wolves and learn how to pick locks (the latter only if our hero does the right thing).
As mentioned, only part of the city is accessible. There's an invisible barrier keeping PC_HERO from venturing beyond the limited scope of the demo. His world ends just beyond the blacksmith and alchemist shops. Without marvin there's no access to the harbor area.
It is possible to enter the upper part of the town. It's only sparsly populated, but it is worthwhile to explore.
Also, there are many hidden corpses and chests with goodies scattered throughout the demo, often in secluded areas that require some off track venturing and/or advanced mountainering/acrobatics.
Apparently marvin mode is disabled, which makes the demo far more confined than the G1 demo, but then it's just a teaser made to wet the player's appetite.
The demo seems to work for PB and JoWood too... I just ordered the German version of G2.

« Anyway, it would be more fun to play the demo if you actualy could explore the countryside alittle... there are some tought enemies there. [icon_eek.gif]»
He he... YOU CAN!!!
See my post if you want to explore a large part of the game. Of course, the quests wont work (the majority of NPCS are not there), but you will find a lot of new monsters... outside the restricted zone. And you will see: Gothic 2 will be huge and great!!! |

Damn you, PornCop! You stole my post! Anyway, congratulations on the find. I can only confirm now that love for acrobatics indeed pays off in this demo _________________ - Merz |

I'm not sure if the priests are in the demo since I have the full version only, but one (the Adanos priest ) is holding a service in town (there are some listeners there, it's a place close to the alchemist) while the other one (the Innos priest) is waiting at the marketplace near the second town gate. _________________ Jaz |

You can appease the carpenter enough for him to teach you lockpicking by talking to Mattelo (sp) and getting the money from the carpenter's wife without using a weapon.
And you can get more STR (as well as the ability to make a "Swordenzichenowordhen" (crude sword) from the Blacksmith in the demo after you become his apprentice.
Also, I've found a demo-exploit, but it requires you to become the apprentice of the fur trader. If you can kill the ShadowCreeper (aka Shadowbeast), the trader will give you 250 for its fur, then you can buy it back for 100 through the trade screen, and return it for another 250, through the dialogue option.
Also, if you drop your gold somewhere safe, then attack the warehouse guard and (while you are being horribly wasted by his awesome might) run into the warehouse, he will only knock you out, not kill you. Then, once you recover, you can sneak to the left chest and pick it open for a free suit of leather armour, valued at 250 gold.
I've also found some Wargs, Three Snappers, a pack of Black Goblins, and Lester.
P.S.: Is there any place other than Brian that you can get crude steel from in the demo? _________________ Make good choices. |

Thank you, i didn't realise I didn't have to visit the priests as I had already completed the other tasks for the other masters.
If I were you I wouldn't continue on with that way to get to the other parts of the game. It could ruin the whole gothic 2 experience. |
