Unifinished Gothic stories...

Wouldn't it be cool if Lee was able to get his revenge, as he promised he would get in Gothic, regarding him being framed for the King's daughters death?

I for one, hope Lee plays a role in the sequel and that he does get his revenge, and perhaps controll over the King's army once again to defeat the Orcs once and for all...

Er... wasn't it the King's wife?
I also hope he makes a return appearance, even if it's just hearing that he got his revenge. Who knows, maybe he'll be leading one of the camps you can join.

That's right, the King's wife, I get confused because they just don't say "the Queen", so I end up thinking "King's something--knowing it's a female".

it will be interesting to see the ties between gothic1 and gothic2. i am afraid that pb might avoid too many return appearances by npcs because of first time players. it would be awesome if they meshed the two games so those of us who played the first installment of gothic would get a sense of continuity. i hate those sequels that totally ignore the games that preceeded it. but, i guess it might be confusing for those who never played the first gothic. then again it also might provide some incentive for them to run out and pick up a copy of gothic.

Hmmmm... anyone remember MGS 2? Not that the game was good (IMO it wasn't, too many FMVs), but they did a nice job handling the old players/new players thing. It involved some kind of character import, though, and we definitely won't have that in Gothic 2.

If I remember that right...wait...

If you played MGS 1, you started MGS2 with your old character. After some time the scenery switched to a few years ahead and you played a related story with a new character which crossed into th eold story at times. If you hadn't played MGS1 you started with the new guy right away, ditching the complete beginning in the past. The stories still crossed but it took you some time to put it all together...
All in all it was nicely done. You didn't have to know anything about the first game to play No. 2, but you sure got more out of the story if you had.

that sounds like a great way to integrate the two games. i especially like the idea of an extra quest for those who have played the series before. that is awesome.

I personally like character permanence. Gives an air of familiarity and warmth to a game. But bringing back too many elements from a previous game can make it difficult for newbies to get integrated. Alternatively if makes newbies want to buy and play Gothic before Gothic 2... and Gothic players rush out for Gothic 2 because their old friends are in it.

It would be good if they can integrate the two versions so if you're a newbie you have to go through a lot more dialogue to learn about things that happened in Gothic 1 in order to open up many sub-quests, while Gothic veterans can dive right in on the quests.

Whatever it is, PB would have already got mostly everything decided and completed except for some finishing touches. After all it's only 3 months till the German Gothic 2 release. Perhaps we should start a Gothic 3 wishlist?

except that Thorus is dead.... I know i killed him, and many others did, it would be kinda odd to include chars in G2 that you killed in G1. Like if i heard Gomez had been put in id search him out first thing and beat him down cause he's supposed to be dead.

Well... you only THOUGHT you killed him. Anything could have happened after that you know, the place was under the Sleeper's spell.

Maybe after the barrier was lifted everything went back to the state they were before... everyone was back alive. And you... it's as though you were never thrown in the prizon colony.
