Is it safe to leave Betsy??

OK, I miscalculated when I brought the 1000g and sheep Betsy to the monastary.I thought that would open up more quests that I needed to do to choose the mage path ala the multile quest entries into the militia and mercs. But the mage at the entrance says this is now the final chioce!

I would like to get the xp from the militia and mercs quests before I go mage but I have this sheep following me

Is it OK if I just tell her to stay at the monastary entrance while I leave or will she disappear or get eaten precluding the mage choice later?

I have found that if you leave Betsy in a location and then leave that general vicinity, she will reappear in Pepe's location at Onar's farm. So just go do your business and when you're ready to go back to the Monastery, go to Pepe's and picks up Betsy again.
