Gothic gave you a few choices with the houses you could live in, Shrikes Hut, Neks Hut (I presume), but for me I wanted something better. I found that nicer homes could be obtained if the previous home owner moved out. Well lets just say, with me, I moved them out... for good. So, what I am asking is, did you live in a home other than the two I mentioned before?
My second home was in the upper room of the Tavern. It seems an opening became available after Jeremiah, the drink mixer, had an unfortunate accident with the Dam Lurker, or so everyone thought...

i lived in the meeting are, that was surounded by hills and had a small cave like room with a boiling pot of water outside in the middle, it was so secure and made me feel safe, i inserted a few guards and lived their, if you dont know which place im talking about ask me or look on the gothic map and look for "meeting place" and go their, it was so peacfull

I finished gothic 2 times before finding the damn thing  It's too bad that the "Fantastic 4" never meet there. |

Sleep is for the weak 
On first go I slept in the Od Camp in that house by the arena. On my second go I didn't sleep at all. |

Well, I slept anywhere convenient, and used any convenient chests to store excess stuff - to keep my own inventory trim. So in a way I'm trampy too.
But I did use one place more than others. Cavalorn's. He's kinda' between most places (old camp/new camp/old mine/orcland etc.) He never ever complains either and you can use his chest all you want... even rob him then place everything you robbed from him in his own chest. It's all still yours!

You dont need to sneak in!
you just walk in and go to sleep while they say "get out of my hut"
i play about 4 of my 9 saves in #1 i sleep in...............
gomez room big bed, hot chicks, mini throne, and chests

i sleep in that renegade camp, i had them all take off their armour and then i publicly excecuted them with urizel

dude! lee's room!, im the lord of the new camp, those who disobey me are stripped of their armour and if im in a good mood they are sent to the swamp camp to start a new life, if im grumpy i do a magical excecution infront of saturus, or i have them throw themselves off a cliff.......

Well I just took the closest bed I could find and someone had somethign against it, my sword got to dance, an arrow got to fly or I made a public execution in the new camp with a spell or two.
