Not shutting down correctly problem?? |
|
Well, I applied the update patch which solved one problem but now I have another - please tell me if you have seen this and any idea what to do. Sometimes when I start the game, it pops up a message box which basically tells me that Divine Divinity did not shut down properly last time and it goes on to suggest I allow it to erase all configuration files and start over again. If I say yes to this, it does some processing and then pops up the setup screen as if it had just loaded the game (where it tests your graphics display capabilities). This is not only very annoying, but indicates something not quite right. Has anybody else seen this? Any solutions? _________________ When everything else in life seems to fail you - buy a vowel. |

This has happened to me whenever the game has crashed for some reason. Usually occurs when I forget to turn off something on my system tray. *mumble* Silly anti-virus software that thinks NOW is the perfect time to scan my hard disk!! *mumble*
My little theory:
I guess the reason it does this is because the program figures you've got some of the settings marked to high for your computer to handle and this is a friendly way of telling you to take it down a notch so you don't crash and burn anymore.
Or an alternative theory:
The program is just written to prompt for resetting to avoid possible corruption that may have occured.
I usually let it run it's little course. Although I haven't experienced any problems when I ignored it either. But I like to be safe, not sorry. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

This only happened to me when I used a video setting that my card couldn't handle very well. After I used a different setting it never happened again. _________________ Kewl quotes:

Is there a place on this message board where we can all rant about anti virus software programs doing their little 'things' at the perfectly wrong time? I really can't stand it anymore... _________________ The Poster Previously Known As NeptiOfPovar |
