That's not called cheating... that's called game balance.

But if I read some people's opinions correctly, Wiz 8 OVERBALANCED.

Evil Islands is certainly the hardest RPG ever. At least for me

Most difficult RPG..disregarding bugs and unfair gameplay has to be Dungeon Master...wow, those puzzles were mind bending at the time!!

My memories of both Ultima 4 and 5 wouldnt put them anywhere near the top of hardest games. They both do have a sort of difficult final dungeon you have to stock up for and it does take a lot of time.

I agree, Evil Islands is the hardest RPG I've ever played as well.

The original Eye of the Beholder. I am still not very good at the real time game, but back then ... well, lets just say that after dying for the 30th time (okay, maybe it was only twenty deaths), I gave the game back to my brother.

Edit - I forgot to mention that I never made it past the second or third encounter.

I am surprised the Ultima Underworld games were brought up. They didn’t seem too bad.
For me, Wasteland (predecessor to fallout) had some real hard tactical battles. In the last few years, Wizardry 8. The Wizardry series always has had a reputation for being hard. I finally gave up on that one.
