Problem in Balmora
   

I've joined up with the fighters guild and their fourth quest is to recover a code book from a chick, member of the theives guild.

If I just ask her, she will pretend she knows nothing about it. When I join the thieves guild she WILL talk to me but won't give me the book (no option to ask for that). Killing her for it is not an option at level 3, too many stron characters come to rescue.

Do I have to advance in theves ranks and do their quests to get access to that code book? I'm a pure 100% Nord fighter with no thieving skills whatsoever, is there any other way?

Try bribing her. I successfully bribed her almost to 100/100 and she gave me the book.
