What can you tell me about character developement in M&M IX?
Important is that I did not play any game from this serie.
So I have many questions (because character developement is very very important for me).

Do you need to find teacher each time you gain new level?
Do you improve your stats wiht using abilities?
Is there max. level?
Do you gain levels often enough?
...

Thank you for informations.

Character development in MM9 is identical to MM7&8, despite the new class system (each character starts as fighter or initiate, and advanced classes are gained by promotions and solving promotional quests).

Level ups are trained in training halls found in every city.

Skills are improved by allocating skill points you get from training. It is very important to know which class you are aiming later in the game, to allocate skill points effectively. You also need to find instructors to learn expert, master and grandmaster skill levels.

There is no max stats, but only certain classes are able to learn grandmaster or even expert levels on various skills. E.g. lich learns grandmaster in dark magic, and gladiator learns grandmaster in unarmed combat.

Character development is fast, you get level ups quickly and characters develop to very high levels during the game.

Overall, it's between Wiz8 and the Baldur's-Gate-type stuff. You won't increase skills each battle thru usage, but you won't play for 5 days just to gain one level, either. In MM6 thru 8, I usually got close to level 50 by the end. I anticipate MM9 will be similar.

Bottom line- if you liked character development in Wiz8, you'll probably be happy with MM9.

Correct.. it is a bit longer than MM8, but you don't get as much XP for stupid quests either. You'll end up between 50 and 70.
