Hammerfall - Hearts on Fire
God, this band is not what I thought it to be at all. Ever get a cd thinking one thing, and it be totally the other. Sometimes even then, you end up liking it anyway because it's something new.
That's not the case with this cd. It was all there, the sound recommendations from a trusted (albeit perpetually stoned) source, the nice price, the seeming Nordic God of Thunder swinging his hammer type metal, the invocation of blood-drenched battle metal theme, the totally killer Bisley or even Frazetta style cover. The promise of the double-kick drum thunder of approaching hooves and the low hum of finely down-tuned guitars issuing their din of dread is nowhere to be found here. Ive been ripped off, plain and simple!
This cd sucks!
Oh I know, "sucks" is a big juvenile no-no, well this cd deserves such a proclamation. Everything from the whole-band-sing-along-choruses to the whiny lead singer just reeks of 80's hair metal. I like 80's metal, but not hair bands, and these guys tread awfully close to sounding like Accept meets Cinderella. And where is the Nordic hammer, smashing away all these false gods and idols, bringing down a frosty fist on the brow of the invader?
Not on this cd, that's for sure, worst 12 bucks I ever spent. _________________ “Then away out in the woods I heard that kind of a sound that a ghost makes when it wants to tell about something that's on its mind and can't make itself understood, and so can't rest easy in its grave, and has to go about that way every night grieving.”-Mark Twain |

Hammerfall, isnt that the soft band with their song 'riders of the strom' that actually sounds like 'the final countdown'????

Poor, poor Sammy. Play Queensyche Operation: Mindcrime and cleanse yourself of the foul taint! Then head to one of those used CD stores and swap that album for something good.
Btw, I'm listening to Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime.
