Dungeon Lords: Review @ GameOver

GameOver has posted their review of 'Dungeon Lords'. The score is 57% and the frustrated tone of the reviewer is well-represented by the opening:
Ugh. I had all sorts of trouble writing this review. I always hope that my reviews are easy to read, entertaining, and accurate, but every time I began stringing together sentences about Dungeon Lords, the worst sort of venom and bile would start flowing out of my keyboard. For example, at one point I wrote at length about whether DreamCatcher Interactive, the game’s publisher, should feel embarrassed about releasing such a product. Then I pondered whether D.W. Bradley -- or, rather, “award winning computer game author D.W. Bradley” -- should bother trying to make any more computer games. Then I listed in great detail all of the places where I felt that the game’s official web site was either lying or being extremely misleading, such as when it lists there are arctic lands in the game, when there aren’t. But while those topics are all appropriate in a game review, I was spending so much time on them that I wasn’t writing about the game itself. So let me summarize: Dungeon Lords is a game that makes me mad.

I'm amazed there isnt a lawsuit filed

I'm not a lawsuit guy... I'll take quite a few lumps and figure I'm the dumb one if I get screwed in a situation before I'd ever file a lawsuit.

But I'm amazed there has not been a lawsuit filed over the state of this game. I remember when Origin Systems had a lawsuit filed against them because the wording on the game box didn't state 'well enough' that the game required an on-going monthly payment.

Here's a game where features of the game advertised on the official website, on the game's box and in the game's own manual are totally absent.

I'm stunned that there is no lawsuit filed in our lawsuit happy USA.

Actually, that isn't why the lawsuit was filed against Origin. It was because the game (As we all remember) experienced looooooooooong downtimes in the very beggining, often times being unplayable at any time during the day for weeks at a time. The case these players brought against them was that the box said nothing about the game being unplayable at certain times due to traffic. Their argument was this: Why pay for a month when two weeks out of said month I can't log in?

Ever notice that MMORPGs now state in their EULA that the game may experience long periods of downtime? That's why.

I thought this was an excellent, fair review. Lots of information without trying too hard to be "cute". And he points out the good stuff about the game amongnst all the unfinished mess.

I agree with the everything the review says, although I think that with the 1.1 patch the game should score in the low to mid 60's. The class system is so interesting, but it doesn't matter when your characters end up all playing the same anyway. It's just not a good game.

Thanks for the clarification. I stand corrected.
