Keep stuff or drop it from OC to SoU |
|
I still have a lot of stuff from the OC that were quest related items. Can I drop them now that I am starting SoU? _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

Is it any fun starting SoU with a well-developed character from the end of OC? I played from scratch and it seemed well balanced... |

I would think not. I finished the OC at level 15 but only made level 13 in SoU. Your OC character would be as powerful, if not more, from the opening scene as your SoU character managed by the closing scene. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

I didn't know that. So I guess I should start a new character then for the SoU is what would be more fun? I thought it would pick up where you left off on skills and levels and maybe adjust you or adjust itself to your level. Glad I haven't gotten any farther than the opening room. I can go in and make a few adjustments. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

Story- and character-wise, SoU leads into HotU. The OC stands alone.
Start yourself a new character (pay attention to the new prestige classes- if you want to try one you'll want to plan ahead) for SoU and then you can continue that char right into HotU. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

Can you tell I hate to read manuals? Thanks for the advice. If I can I may play tonight and build a different character all together. Try something new for a few hours anyway. Any suggestions for a fighter type? That is my favorite type but I do like to use some majic. I still want to hit them when I fee like it. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

Well, to be honest, SoU didn't add good prestige classes for combat-oriented chars. The blackguard and assassin have their selling points, but both require evil alignment which might challenge a sweetie such as yourself. You might take a moment to read about the shadowdancer. It's an offshoot of the rogue and its powers kind of fizzle against high level critters, but that's probably the most likely choice. Of course, there's nothing to keep you from ignoring the prestige classes and going with a vanilla fighter if that's what you prefer.
The good news is that HotU adds some really good combat-oriented prestige classes. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

Thanks Dte. I didn't get into it yet but I will check it out and I'm sure post a few more questions very soon. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

If you'd still like to use your OC character you can try bumping the difficulty up a few notches. I usually do that for mods that are a little under-powered for the current level of my players in multiplayer. It gives me more choices of mods for them that we missed earlier and the game does a good job of challenging the player when difficulty is raised. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thanks Val. I may play some of the mod that way just to get an idea of what I will need for my new character. I have decided this is going to be my life's work for a while so I don't feel like I have to "finish" the game so to say. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

@cm - I played SoU with a paladin/fighter blend. I got the fighter levels for the extra feats. He later branched out into champion of Torm (for HotU) ... but let me tell you, I was bummed out that NWN limits a character to three classes! I'd planned on going to weapons master after a few levels of CoT ... got all the dumb feats, picked up the 4 levels of intimidate ... but then ... NO GO! Man was I bummed. But then I got into the concept of a CoT/Pally type.
Anyway, both games were pretty easy for this character. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Thank you Sir Lintra. Now I have another something to play with and try on. Now if I can just get the hang of the online action memorized I'll be all ready for the real world. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

As said, you'd find SoU pretty easy with your character from the original game. In fact, to go through as a paladin I entered the game with a level 15 Paladin from the original campaign. I completed the game in 6 hours.
To save frustration, however, consider using a level 3 to 5 character. It doesn't make things overly easy as allows things that are not fighters to survive the early fights. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi
