Being a Novice

I am in chapter 3 and i'm a mercenerry. And i want to be a mage. Please tell me how can i be a novice right now. I hope i don't have to start the game from beginning one more time.

Jestem w rozdziale 3. Wypelnilem kilka misji jako najemnik i chce sie dostac do klasztoru,aby zostac nowicjuszem. Da sie jakos zrezygnowac z bycia najemnikiem u Lee? Mam nadzieje,ze nie bede musial zaczynac gry od nowa.

Sounds impossible to me. Joining the mercenaries should have blocked all other careers for you.
