Something that just kind of bugs me |
|
Ok this isn't a big deal but I definitely find it .... distracting and mood breaking.
G2 is a fantasy world; Knights, dragons, swords, and magic. All done up nice and pretty.
So what do I find on the ship: cannons.
WHY!? There's no hint of gunpowder anywhere in the game and with the spells in the game there would be no need of them. One Rain of Fire would pretty much put the hurt to any wooden ship ever made.
Anyway, it's no big deal it just bugs me.
I'm playing through as Paladin now (2nd time) and I just went to the island so I'm seeing it a lot.
I have to say I'm finding Paladin to be a lot easier, but that could just be that I know the game better.

Prehaps mages are susspectable to sea sickness, therefore they don't like sailing, so there would be no one to cast rain of fire so they require cannons to defend them self.
Well that's my theory anyway _________________ R.I.P "Dimebag" Darrell Lance Abbott

ummm.. what about the rest of the weapons? Swords, axes etc would be kind of pointless if everyone can use magic at all times.. |

Do you know what really bugs me, magic. You can't use any magic in real life.
And dragons. Dragons don't exist, they're from fairy tales. So why are they in Gothic 2.
Oh, wait it's a computer game. The developers can make everything up. It's not real.
Sorry, just needed to do that |

Comrads! Study history before. Guns were used in battle in China in XIII century. Spains used guns from wery begining of XIV century -- in age of high Chivalry, before Reneisance.
Buy the way, Two-Handed swords in Gothis is XV cenrury, and rapier is weapon of XVI. So guns is wery adequate to this time. Don't forget, that pirates in XVII still use swords in battles. |

I think it fits fine, given the alchemy present. You have to consider that mages aren't exactly a dime a dozen. You wouldn't be able to have more than one per ship with a max of like 10 ships. And if your one mage dies, that ship is completely defenceless.
