Australia and G2

At the moment, I'm seriously P'd off. I have been trying to track down the forthcoming availablility of G2 in Australia. Finally, I get an answer from the distributor down here, a company called Red-Ant, who say Yes, G2 will be released here in Q1 2003 (Gothic 1 wasn't released here at all) However, today I spent an unhappy half hour in my local EB who informed me that they wouldn't be selling the game because G1 had 'lousy sales in the US, which is why they didn't sell it either, so they wouldn't be touching any sequel'!!!!! They then suggested I import it myself from overseas. Their whole tone and attitude was unbelievable; if they weren't the only local game shop I have, I'd never go near them. So, while the rest of you are complaining about waiting, spare a thought for us down here. This is NORMAL in this country, where games cost $100 each!!!!

I wouldn't worry about it too much, Corwin. EB never know what they're doing (in Australia). I pre-ordered Arx and went in to pick it up after noticing it had arrived at an online store. Despite showing the receipt with the product code on it the EB guy insisted it didn't exist (it turned out to be sitting in the box out the back but they'd never heard of it).

I'm sure EB will sell it - the store just doesn't know about it yet because a firm date hasn't been put into the system.

And nearly every online store I checked had it listed, www.berlinwall.com.au for example .

I've posted an update on this topic at the JoWood boards, but for those interested, who don't visit there, the latest I have from Red-Ant, the local distributor of JoWood products in this country, is that while EB will NOT be selling it, Hardly Normal aka Harvey Norman will be carrying it as soon as it becomes available.

I stand corrected . I find EB (in Australia) a most frustrating company, even with my brother-in-law (an EB store manager) to help me.

One of the guys who works in my local EB is a Gothic fan and he is NOT impressed either with EB's attitude.
