Ah the Guest option. What a great idea!
Back to Gothic folks. Great franchise, hope they don't dumb down the control system too much - since both sides of my brain function just fine. _________________ "For Innos!" |

It is inevitable that Oblivons name will crop-up time and again in the future when discussing rpg games, it tried, perhaps over-zealously, to be "all things to all men" but in doing so did not "specialise" - it diluted its own gameplaying identity. It is so easy to kill "the goose with the golden egg" where media profiteering is concerned. It crammed to many layers onto the McDonalds quarter-pounder leaving some gamers with an unclear and incipid taste...."i couldn't taste the cheese"........
...and here lies the difference (gracefully easing back to the gothic interview subject) - here we have Kai giving in-depth details on the path *intentended* of the gothic concept, it couldn't be clearer - note for example the line....
"A game that is focused on role playing has to be able to make the game players think "If I were him, what would I do next and how would I solve this"
...for this one element alone (and i am indebted especially to G1) ...puzzle solving by deep innuendo or suggestiveness or even side-tracking via devious dialogue interaction, rather than practical in-game solving (pushing switches etc') is of crucial importance and a paramount element of rpg game "identity" - even more-so to the more mature player.
I still think Kai is giving too much away (a devout gothic follower can read between the lines of interviews!) but i am pleased that returning the original theme of "motivation of the gods" will surface more triumpantly than in G1 this time around. _________________ Forever aches my wretched soul, for Chromanin locked in that dark hole, though crypted key i've yet to learn, he knows one day i will return. |

That would be my point, too. Also, this is a good analogy with mass-consuming economy. I know Bethesda just did their job but, for me, Oblivion is not TES anymore.
At least, Gothic team seems to have a clear design decision. I am all right with their trying to make the control accessible only if they don't compromise on seeking for more mature and intellectually interesting content. |

Gothic 3 looks amazing i really want it more after being pretty disapointed by Oblivion well not really disapointed i know exactly how it was going to turn out.
I just hope the difficulity is balanced in the game maybe you think its fun but i just dont find being killed by pretty much any npc in one or two hits and avoiding pretty much every enemy until a million years later in the game its not fun its frustrating and boring i deleted the addon because of this.
Oh and i hope there is alot of caves and secret little things to discover and shit like that with loot or some notes and some cool shit hardly any of that in Gothic 2 specially like underwater caves you jump in water theres a tunnel you come up in some cave.
Oh and a game that looks this great i know they probably wanted to make it feel like Gothic 1 or something but the item menu looks extremely ugly and out of place they really need to change it and make it look nicer. |
