Calling someone a greenhorn in English is like calling them a n00b in leet speak - it means a novice. Some one who is 'green' or untested.

Maybe in the next Gothic after you've got the quest to kill Xardas (if you even get that quest) the hero will say something like: "I'll kill him, or my name isn't ..." And then we'll finally know it. |

Have you already finished Gothic 2, if so you can read the spoiler. Otherwise first play the game
Spoiler:
After you have defeated the Undead Dragon, the master of the dragons, suddenly Xardas appears and takes the powers from the now Dead Undead Dragon and so becomes the Chosen of Beliar. So it's only a small guess that he will return in Gothic 3.
