zhighqualityrender Setting |
|
Experimented with some tweaks in marvin and the gothic.ini file and found the zhighqualityrender setting, giving a 400% viewing distance, to be really nice.
Could not believe, however, that it would be disabled and the view distance would be reset to the previous menu selected setting every time a game was saved! And I like to save A LOT during a game session, making the requirement of having to reset zhighqualityrender in the console each time a real hassle. Am I missing something here? Is there a way to keep zhighqualityrender active after I save or load a game within a single game session? |

Um, thanks, but I wasn't looking for links to tweaks since I already did this research and know about them, including the fps patch.
I'm looking for a solution that solves the zhighqualityrender setting being disabled and the view distance being reset to it's previous setting each time a game is saved.
If Gorath doesn't know, it seems very likely there is no solution to this. |

Did you try just making the file read-only? _________________ “Everyone’s a girl when they’re face down.” |

Huh? zhighqualityrender is a call made to the program through the in-game console accessed in marvin mode. There is no associated 'file' to be made 'read only'. |

Is'nt zhigh in the gothic.ini, I played Gothic 2 most recently and it was located there.
Then with the distance setting set to 300%, you only lose a little.
I have not got it installed currently but my impression was the zhigh was the better quality graphics and the znofog was the distance adjuster which also is located in the Gothic.ini.
Both are set to 1 to activate at least that I recall, even if you have them confused both should be there.
Btw what is the fps patch? TIA. |

@Acleacius,
Although gothic has the same engine as G2, the game command set as well as the marvin command set had slight differences, while the zhighqualityrender facility is, as you rightly say in the G2 ini file, it didn't exist in Gothic, only in the marvin command set, which of course does not hold through a saved game. |

"it didn't exist in Gothic"
Thats odd Wulf maybe we have different versions, I just reinstalled my UK version 1.08j and both zhigh and znofog are both in the Gothic.ini and I set both to "1".
My visual range is not changing from saving either so, that must be the solution to OctU's problem at least that I can test and find.
Edit
BTW I have found that I can cut/paste the KeyDelay=150 from Gothic2.ini and put it in Gothic.in and it seems to work well.
It has always been a problem with double typing and keys just to sensitive in Gothic 1. |
