I have a few quick questions about plants/potions. I was messing around with different potions such as Mazte, Cytrodiilic Brandy, Sujamma, Vintage Brandy, etc. Then I ate a Hackle-Lo Leaf. I noticed it restored fatigue. So then I loaded the save that I saved right before I drank all those potions. I ate the Hackle-Lo Leaf and the game said it has no effect on me. What happend? Also, whenever you consume any sort of plant/potions do they always do what they do? Or would it be differnt on other races and classes? If anyone could, please explain to me how this works. Okay, sorry this wassn't as quick of a question as I thought! Thanks in advance for any replies.

If I understand it correctly, whenever you eat an ingredient straight up instead of mixing it in a potion, you get a chance based on your alchemy skill for the ingredients first effect to happen. This chance is somewhat higher than the chance of actually mixing a potion I think. So the first time you ate it you got lucky and it worked, but the second time you failed the roll and you just ate the item with no effect.
It's basically a way for you to use alchemical ingredients without bothering to mix potions, since mixing potions fails a lot and wastes the ingredients. Especially when your low skill and may need the healing.
Be careful what you eat though, many if not most of the items you can find have bad effects as their first effect and they need to be mixed properly to be of any use other than selling to merchants for gold. |
