early on, in the upper city, upon visiting the driod shop one can buy a cheap modle of a droid for 50 credits, it doesn't even make it out of the door, The woman who works there says she has another droid, the t3-m4, does anyone know if this droid is aquireable? if so how?

Yes, it is. You will get it as part of a quest. Keep going. Eventually, you can have 2 droids in your party.
