My grandma can fart faster than this.

gforce 5900 256mb RAM and 1600 p4 and audigy 2 sound card. I guess I have to drop down a hundred bucks for 256 RAM and hope the game will run faster. I have to press f1 most of the time to set the lowest quality settings and by doing that I can only see object about 20 feet away.

it's the known 256 MB memory- bluff, you need at least 512 MB ram to run the game smoothly

I've been using a 2000+ XP, 1 GB, and a GF 3 Ti500, and I only get a slight slowdown in the city in 1600 x 1200 with all high settings.

As the others said, itīs the RAM. Instead of just plugging in another 256 MB you could also think about selling your mainboard, CPU and RAM on ebay and buying a cheap AMD ~2.5 GHz, mainboard and 512 MB combo. This would cost about 200 EUR incl. taxes here.

I added more ram

I added another 256 RAM. Wow, I was very doubtfull it would improve much but it sure does help. Before the added RAM even my sound would studder and then slow down everything else. Now I can play the came pressing f3 when out doors. I still have to use f2 or f1 when in the city but man Am I happy now. I played till 2:30 in the morning last night.

I got one really strange computer. Its celeron 900Mhz, 384SDRAM and GeForce2 32mb. And I run Gothic 2 at 1024*768 without problems. Before I bought the game I didnt even dreamed of that I can run this game with my 3-year old computer.

Sounds alot like my computer. Haven't tried Gothic II full-version yet, not sure if my comp can handle it.

I've got a Monster PC with P4 2.6 Gigs/Geforce4/256Ram/HDD with 60Gigs and 10 empy ones i play Gothic 2 realising that my computer found an opponent that is too hard: It crashes every half an hour simply freezing the screen , teleporting to the docks takes 5 minutes til the environment is loaded!! is it the RAM? that would suprise me seeing that i can even run battlefield1942
