Thanks for the answer
But what have you all find so far?
Like I said 17 pages are a lot of reading!
If some one will summarize the topic information I think that not only me but also other people will find this helpfull!
Now I'm searching for the books, I've found th first and the second.
My 2 cents: if you don't cheat(and IF you are a newbe to the game) you will surely avoid the fog tower until chapter 2 or 3.
And I'm talking about the 1st book!
So it is impossible for a first time player to follow the "right path" from the beginning...
IMHO we are wrong about the path to follow....(not fight unless provocated ecc.)
And...could you give me a little hint?
Where's the 3rd book? |

@Spike86,
All of the known and discussed info' on this cromanin riddle are in this thread, it would be wrong to try to condense the content as some of the subtle clues could easily be omited, so read the complete thread, it is the sum of the whole thing, from start to finish, as it all unfolded, thanks to wolverine_men. There is a thread on these Gothic forums detailing the complete list of books and their locations.
@Squeek,
That switch works for me both day and night. and you are correct, grammatically there is only one reference in the game to the "banished one"
@megadav/Patriot,
The game code is for giving the letter to Milten who then passes it on to the "Head magician" Corristo who is over Drago, Damarok, Milten, Rodriguez and Torrez, - - Xardas is not the head of the magicians. |

Hi Wulf.
what do you think about that

You said that you have seen the old man the 1st time you've played, right? |

Hey there Spike86,
If i did it the first time, then it must be easy to do if you "double-back" and go over the things you might normally (non-newbie) take for granted as done!
this was mentioned in the thread as what a newbie might not do.
You will know there are several "paths" to take at strategic points in the game. Being banned from the old camp is a major one, we all know (we read as such) that the cromanin quest is optional, can be done any time, (as when you reckon your abilities can handle it), how far would you go "guildless" - *very important*.
When you exit from the free mine and Gorn say's "that strange thing you have, hope it works" - - then begins ch/5 is another, and so it is for you (not me) to decide? - - but your thinking must be correct, "what path"
I have cheated many times and in all ways possible, and i believe it probably could never work if you cheat, i think it becomes "negated" by Marvin.
Edited: but i would cheat if i found the old man, to find all of the info's. |

But when we get to Xardas, we know that he was a Fire Mage. And besides, why would Pyrokar send a letter to a man he hates into the Colony? I hope it'll come out at least in G3. _________________ http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?megadav!count |

How very odd. I am completely certain that I tested it that way. Hmmmmmm.
Moving on...if he is the banished one, then I have a lot of game to play before I get to that point. I did all my testing in chapter one (not necessary to cheat, btw), and I have to decide whether or not I want to do this.
I am also wondering if using the switch before you get the dialogue option somehow blows it for you. If it does, then I should start a new game right now. What to do....what to do....
Surely there must be a connection since that character and that switch are in the same exact place.

Where do you find this old man and what does he tells you.Could someone please write the full conversation and the exact location.
Btw.Have you found a man into a hut in the swamp.When you talk to him he comes with you.If you already have mud and him you can train them and they can help you with the fights against monsters. _________________ (Firefox_Mythos)(Παντος)Reaperfox(Ρουβαλης)Tezafox Katsaridoktono(Ντουσικος)Che(Ταγαρης)Crusader(nokos)shadowfox(Μηχελης)aquafox(Στελιος)thunderfox_gomos(Γιωργος) |

I shall intervene now very briefly(though much against my own will) and declare that my last post contained two clues about the banished one. In order to resolve all arguments about his identity I shall advise u to refer to the Gothic 3 interview transcript. U can find it's english translation on this web site. |

@wolverine_men,
Be not afraid, after playing intensely for a night and a day, i also realised this fact, even pc-hero is refered to as banished in his journal notes, it's just a matter of timing now. G3 was the clue to those that know.
Edited: the avatar is very fitting, and maybe one day when all is revealed, you will reveal your own i.d. ? |

OK, read the article. I'm at that place in G1, Xardas doesn't tell us the whole story of the Sleeper, and when we ask about it, he says something like that "Because you can be the... No...". I don't know exactly. Question to wolverine_men: is it possible to give the letter to Xardas? _________________ http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?megadav!count |

@megadav,
Xardas says that the orchish prophecies tell of a "holy foe" who will come to drive the sleeper away from this world" - - in the orc underground temple you will see stone carvings depicting a god with a scroll, i think we all know now to play it through.
@Squeek,
I did that bit once over and over, it didn't alter anything. (the switch) a stone golem can be a bit "buggish" (and you get it's heart -'elements') but thats all, i always left both columns on the "up" position.
I am slowly getting nearer to the "coax" point, might be today or tomorrow?
who knows, |

Yeah, Xardas thinks that we will help him against the Sleeper an doesn't want to tell us it's story? _________________ http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?megadav!count |
