BGII - the dragon named BALOR - he's killing me.

I can't seem to get around Balor in chapter five. I don't recall having this kind of problems the first time I played this game; but now, he's killing me. I pause the game and read the stats of the fight on the display and find that my weapons are not effective. I have Minsc and the Paladin (Keldorn Firecam) plus myself (I can cast beserk) Aerie, Jaheira and Imoen. I have tried about a dozen times to defeat him and it always ends the same, my death. Jaheira casts monsters at level III and strength of one and anything else I can think of. The fights last quite along time; but always the same outcome. Most of the time, I have no control over my crew. They run around like crazy with no control over them. I click of their character box and nothing shows up, held, panic, fear, etc. I just don't have any control over them. When I do get control back, it's usually too late. How do you defeat Balor?? Don't tell me that I should have got the magic sword in Chapter two or something like that. I want to defeat him; but don't want to have to go back several chapters to get the correct equipment.

Er... there was a demon named Balor, but not a dragon.
Demons are immune to lightening, fire, and poison effects. Best defense against them is Protection from Evil.

If it really is a dragon you are facing and not a demon, then spell sequenced Magic Missile does wonders.

Now, you've got to admit, that Baldor is the most Dragon-looking Demon that you've ever seen. First level Protection from Fear worked well enough so that my character could defeat the Demon Baldor........thanks Val

One of my friends had so many problems with that fight (I don't... I always have a cleric with several remove fears 'lurking' outside the room (and aura range) ready to throw a remove fear in)) that he actually memorized something like 7 skull traps and cast them. Then he memorized 7 more and cast them... then...

Well, when balor spawned he got hit by about 40 skull traps (400d6 damage or so). Well... once the computer stopped having its massive graphic induced coronary.

Even his 75% magic resistance couldn't save him there.
