Anyone else having trouble... |
|
Accessing this site? It's running horrendously slow for me on my home PC, so slow that I haven't even been able to load the page(s). Seems to happen irrelevant of the time I try to get on, day or night.
I am at school right now, and RPGdot is loading slow, but at least I can get on here.
Is it my home PC? I don't have any trouble with other sites, but this one is killing my comp! _________________ Member of the "Fantastic ONE"

On my sisters 56k modem I have a hard time loading the site during the day. _________________ If soot stains your tunic, dye it black. This is vengeance.

Appreciate the suggestions, guys, but it's not my connection. I'm on broadband, and as I said, I have no problem with other sites. I also play CoD with <50 ping on 32 ppl servers. (Dunno if that is impressive, but it sounded good.. )
It is only this site that has trouble loading, for some reason. Just curious if anyone else has been having problems, say, in the last month? _________________ Member of the "Fantastic ONE"

I access the site multiple times every day including some lengthy news runs which require a lot of interaction. There has been two or three times in the last month where the server was a little slow but those problems were definitely temporary. If you're regularly having trouble, it's not likely to be at this end - but it might not be yours, either. A dodgy router on-route from your location to the RPGDot server might be to blame for temporary problems. _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |

Either a satellite uplink or a router/name server problem along the way. Had that too some time ago, I couldn't access the site and a score of other sites which were accessed via the same uplink/name server. At all.
When the name server was reset a few days later things worked again.
You might try browsing the site with an anonymizer. If that works better for you than it does now, it's definitely a name server problem. _________________ Jaz |

Jaz I can figure out what an anonymizer does, I can even guess at how (in a non technical sense) it does it, but where does one get one, and how does one make it work? _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

The site was extremely slow for me once a couple of days ago, but other than that it hasn't been so. _________________

To test it, just type the url you want to browse into the window on the page in the link below:
http://www.anonymizer.com/index.cgi
It's only a very limited approach, though. For real browsing you'd have to buy this one.
There's also JAP which is free (but in beta stage only):

Well, oddly enough, after posting this thread yesterday from university, it seems to be running better now at home. Strange..
Maybe it was just one of those router things going bonkers. I have no idea. just hope it has run its course and will not impede my surfing any more!! Thanks to all who replied.. _________________ Member of the "Fantastic ONE"
