Hmmm... Did you vote for it in your top 10 choices? If you had a tie for first place, and Albion was 10th, it would have gotten bumped off the list.
@ Mattias Kreky: Diablo 2 got helped out a lot by a 2nd and a couple of 3rd place votes (I remember being incredulous, so I triple checked it ). I remember reading comments attached to it like "Fun hack'n'slash" or "great action", so I guess it is appreciated here...

I guess consistency won the day. BG2 may not be the *best* game for most people, but it's the game most people agree on. |

Windwalking:
yes, it was my fault. Albion was on 10. place and i voted for Might & Magic 4+5 (World of Xeen) as one game. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild= |

Don't suppose there's any chance our poll was influenced by the fact that a significant portion of RPGDot members are here because of the Gothic forums? _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

No. If the 1500+ members drawn here by the Gothic forums had participated in the poll Gothic would have been the clear winner! _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

So if BG2 won we can say that the forum was dominated by BG fans _________________ One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them, One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness spite them. One mage to stop it all.

No, as Wind pointed out, BG2 got less 1st place votes than 2 other games, of which Gothic was one. For all the good things I've heard about Gothic (I plan on buying it in the future), it hasn't stood the test of time yet. People still complain about the poor control scheme. My point is that our pool of voters probably had a disproportionate number of people willing to overlook Gothic's flaws and proclaim it "best ever".
OTOH, I clearly overlooked some poor graphics when I gave MM7 my first place vote... _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

The control's arent a problem! You just have to spend some time learning to get used to the controls. I have no problems with anything in Gothic. As with MM, graphic isn't the most important part of the game ESPECIALLY RPG and realeted. If the game is good, no awfull graphic will spoile it. _________________ One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them, One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness spite them. Hmm... The reason I found RPGDot was because I was looking for a Gothic site... What makes Gothic so big here anyway? Does it get special coverage compared to other games?
I think the results show that Gothic got way more votes than any other recent game (1 year old or less), so you may be on to something, dte...
BTW, what is a dte? A car, stereo system, inflatable peter?
