Demo bug?

Twice now I've picked up something off the Dwarf's shelf, making him hostile. He promptly kills me without any combat involved. I suppose that's fine, although some kind of warning might have been nice. Anyway, after he kills me, I just lay there with no HP. I've let the game set for a few minutes and nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong, or is the demo not realizing that I'm dead?

No. It's you not realizing that you're dead.

In the final game you will be visited by mister death himself when you are death. But he is not in the demo, probably because they wanted to reduce the filesize.
Now you are just plain death

OK. so the correct action at that point is to get back to the main menu (following a few choice words)?

I can sympathise with your predicament. The first time I got killed in the demo, I wasn't sure if I was dead or merely unconscious (like Gothic) I sat and waited for some illuminating screen to pop up, but none did. Eventually I realised I was dead and loaded up my last save game.
