Drain Health vs. Damage Health |
|
I tried to choose a way of enchanting my sword that would have as few enemies imune to the damage as possible. Dunmer are almost immune to fire, Nords are immune to cold...etc. So it came down to being between Drain Health and Damage Health. I chose Drain Health, added some Drain Fatigue and created the Vampire Bite. Very similar to my Vampiric Ring that I found that had Drain Health and Drain Fatigue.
So I assumed that Drain Health would take health from my enemies and give it to me (seems like that's what the word "Vampiric" on the ring name would indicate), but this turned out to not be true. I checked my health, it was at 163 of 195, I fought an Ogrim, killed him, and got nothing, still 163, then killed a Hunger, still at 163.
So, if Drain Health does not give me any of my enemy's health, what is the difference between Drain Health and Damage Health?

I think "damage" affects your current stats, while "drain" affects your maximums. So an 80HP critter wacked with "damage 20" would be 60/80, while "drain 20" would make it 60/60. My memory could be toast though. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

That makes good sense...so drain is what gets used on my when my attribute is lower and red on my stat screen. Like drain endurance.
I ended up finding out that what I want is Absorb health. I think it would be cool for my thief to use a shortsword to steal someones life force and add it to my own. Now if I could just find an effect that stole thier life force converted it to gold and dumped i in my pocket, I'd have the ultimate thief sword. I bet some clever fellow could do that with the construction set. Too bad I'd never be able to use it, I'm on an Xbox.
Thanks,
