I think it WAS going to be released. But since Atari went broke, they dropped all third party distribution and went with the "another stupid console game" DRIV3R.

They sold out to console games. Just like most PC games has been 'XBOXed' like Deus Ex 2: IW (ruined). Quick fix for the average young punk to play. Seen the demo for Joan of Arc? It is Xboxed. So is Thief 3 coming soon. It is the death of alot of good PC gaming.

Dumbed down, simple control, mainstream, clone console game trash.

Not sure about pc or not

I can't imagine they would not continue the series on the PC? i think that's a silly question! ALSO, so the game add-on will be 2005? that's a freakin bummer

I think they are talking 2004 for the add-on, 2005 for G3.

Hmm, you have a point there. I have often expressed my opinion that some
of the clearly more technically advanced RPGS (i.e Morrowind or Star
Wars:KOTOR) though having some obvious advantages (i.e pixel shaders,
or more polygons especially on the models) do not have the concistent overall
visual quality or provide the immersion created by the liveliness of G2's world.
(Remember the sparse/bland outdoors of Morrowind or the very small areas
and that ridicullous 2D skybox on Kotor, Both are great games ofcourse but
their graphics hardly deserve the 90%+ they received everywhere)

Could the "steadily growing fanbase" created by G1's Sleeper like constant sales coincide with the poor sales of G2.

I´m not sure G2 sells poorer than Gothic. More the opposite. Even an uninterested Atari is stronger than Xicat. The fan base is shared between us and JoWooD, thus the rather low traffic compared to the explosion after the G1 release. Plus G2 makes significantly less trouble than Gothic.
I think word of mouth sells this game, as G2 helps G1 sales..

I actually meant that the constant sales of G1 (It is often branded a sleeper
Hit) would imply a steadily growing Fanbase that should have meant bigger
sales than those currently observed for G2, But I see what you mean.

I don´t know if Atari will release the add-on. If I was them I would wait till September and release one version worldwide. For 20$ in a DVD box with a pdf manual. 10 / 16 months to develop the market and still outside the Christmas season.

This is logical.I just guessed/hoped that 8 months since the UK G2 release is
time enough for penetration in the European market but if they are going for
a single worldwide ...

G3 is still 2 years away. The only direct competition in the RPG genre would be David Bradley´s Dungeon Lords. I doubt this game has a good publisher outside Germany (DTP, for example Runaway). DreamCatcher, I think.
Atari and JoWooD have no need to hurry. Given G2´s poor marketing example it´s quite possible the add-on will not even be announced. Then we read on Blue´s that it´s in stores since last Monday.

Damn, I,ve been waiting for something solid for months now to keep myself
from playing a 3rd time (I was saving firemage for the addon). Now that there
is no certain date for me to look forward to I just cant help myself
(I'm weak ).

P.S have you read the Dungeon Lords promo, someone should tell them that
the 3rd person Action-RPG approach was done before Looks overall
promising though.

http://www.activereviews.com/game.php?platformId=4&gameId=114 says that
Schanz International Consultants is the publisher for Dungeon Lords

Atari said to my by e-mail that is should be released round april, but i dont know to which atari i sent the mail.
I have been reading on this forum.
Some people said the addon would be released on april 15th, but some other ones said there would be an announcement on feb 15th.
Isn't it a little bit strange? why are both dates on the 15th?

Ides of March; death of Caesar. Many games put in occult dates and symbols into thier products in the belief it will make them successfull. Or it is an artist Easter egg to mark thier work.

Ever seen any odd symbols or markings in games? One familiar one has a interesting picture on a wall inside a cave, in some RPG game you may have played and never noticed it....

Or they were just lazy and it is halfway through the month. Coming and going.

Did you say you had inside contacts? You do not know who sent it to you? Just look at your e-mail and it should say who sent it to you, in case you do not remember.
