Warez is another name for servers that allow people to download pirated software. In other words, the people who run them are thieves and they allow other people to be thieves. See why we don't like them? _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

Warez is one of the main reasons PC Gaming is dieing, and why so many PC Devopers are moving over to the X-Box. When someone goes through the time and expense of creating a Morrowind, Arx or Planescape Torment, games that give many hours of enjoyment, surely it's worth paying for.
As for Hard Drive space, can I use the E recovery drive, or will that create problems in the future? |

PC gaming is far from dying, my friend. Maybe developers are going over to the X-Box to boost sales, but PC gaming will last for a long time to come, into the unforseeable future I am convinced.
EDIT -- Warez piracy wont kill PC sales. There are still many, many legitimate buyers of PC games. Some games like MMORPGs will preserve the PC game phenomenon, because you cant pirate those games, since they require cd-keys and a log-in account. Over the past 10 years we have seen a phenomenon in pc gaming. There are so many wonderful games out now, and more to come, that there has never before been in existence so many high-quality games for the pc, and developers continue to expand the horizons. XBox might be a good platform, but PC games will always have better quality, larger scope, better graphics, et cetera, even though the PC platform is a bit unstable. _________________

I don't even go about warez, as to dying PC games never gonna happen. The main reason there is so many games for platforms is that the games are made very fast. For PC? imagine testing only, so many possibilities. That's why so many bugs and crashes. _________________ Money - An article which may be used as a universal passport to everywhere except heaven, and as a universal provider of everything except happiness. |

There are 2 ways at looking at it. On the side of PC dying: In America PC game sales fell 46 % last year, and this was before the X-Box was released. Interplay is almost gone, the majority of Lucusarts games seem to be console orientated when this was the minority last year, Blizzard could soon be Microsoft owned ( doubt it), Space given to PC games in America is rapidly declining, and Walmart are said to be abolishing their PC games section. X-Box gives a standardised sytem that can be utilised to it's upmost.
The strengths of the PC are also it's weakness. Morrowind on X-Box is supposed to be fatally flawed, and lacks the mods that the PC has available. Half Life, a 3 year old game is still totally fresh thanks to all the mods available, but that leads to less sales. Most Publishers want you to buy a new game. Games like Baldur's Gate 2, Divine Divinity offer a very long playing time.
And probably it's biggest strength, and the reason it will survive, is that anyone can program for it. In Europe,PC game sales are still very high ( and with threatment console gamers recieve here that won't change ), and a lot of very talented PC development groups have surviced here in the last few years. Arx Fatalis, Mafia, Divine Divinity, Serious Sam, Gothic, etc, all great games, all developed by small groups. I don't really think PC gaming is dying, but it is being pushed into the ghetto. Microsoft obviously wants to remove gaming from the PC into the front room, and a lot of fine PC developing groups are suffering through Warez and other factors, but it won't die. |
