I pressed enter and turned myself, but te winch is stuck is there another way of opening it or is this the stuck winch i have been kinda reading about? I have gothic eng. j version,.. should i update to k? if so will i have the problem fixed once i open my save game?

Hey there Sentimal,

Its possible to open any gate/portculis in gothic using marvin mode and the ztrigger command (also zuntrigger) followed by the vob name and vob i.d,
which winch are you at ? the coast ruin? - - - i also have the eng/j version and its possible to go straight to that winch on starting a new game and it works!
so its not the storyline trigger.

The German 1.08h patch cleans out the bugs on all the winches, but of course that's no help, the 1.08k/j is only to address the radeon graphics libraries problems, find the gate i.d to enable the winch.

You could just do a "k" in marvin or fly F6 and gt (goto camera, enter,f8,f4
you could even just carry on and leave the winch?

It might be possible that he actually needs Gorath to complete the task, and also to kill the animal he is to encounter in there.
Spoiler:
Having played the game three times, I was never able to beat the baby troll alone at that point in the game...

Don't you mean Gorn?

That place is called the North-East Cloister ruins where there are plenty of snappers. I also used the english version w/o any patch butall the winches worked. If you remember the walkthrough by JemyM, he said that there is a possible bug with every winch. So save the game before trying a winch and keep your finger crossed.

Yes, yes of course I meant Gorn. You'll have to forgive me, I am a bit tired...

Edith says this is a very good suggestion.
