"Classes"/Stats/Skills help

Hi everyone -

First, I have a question about health. My health is only 90, but I have a 10 con and am level 7. The manual says 20*(lvl+1) which would be 160. Did anyone else notice this problem?

*spoilers on later game below*

Second, I'm now at the part where you return to Arx and find it overrun with Ylsides. There is no way I can kill them. I'm just not powerful enough. Also, throughout the game, though I raised my Technical skills I could barely ever pick locks very well at all. I couldn't even pick the lock to start that hermit's quest.

I think I'm going to start over and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on creating new character. I don't particularly like memorizing a bunch of lines to trace in the air, so I was thinking more a warrior/thief type. What should I start my Stats at? And my skills?

Whatever I did last time apparently didn't work very well and has pretty much screwed me.

Thanks in advance.

Help

I never paid attention to stats myself, but I can help with the chest for the Hermit quest. You have to USE an emerald on the chest to open it. I must have stood there for hours before I figured out the trick. I never got good at lock picking either. As for Ylsides, Fireballs to the head are great, two or three usually do it. They will come at you one at a time if you walk slowly and wait for them to patrol the city. Go do the hermit quest if it will up your skills first. The warrior is good, and all you need is to up your object knowledge and strength for the most part. Do put some points in casting spells, as you will need them. You need technical to pick locks and disarm traps. So just put a few points in that. Concentrate on strength, dexterity, and mental skills. You should have fun. And be sure to save at different parts so you can go back and change if you don't like the results.

If you don't want to fight in that part of the game, and fireballs are definitely the best, use stealth and the secret passageways you should have found by now, to get to the cells.
