When you become a Guildmaster, is there any advantages, benefits?

Major ones, No.

I can only think of one off the top of my head. A Telvanni quest requires you to get an amulet from a Morag Tong officer. If you are the Morag Tong Grandmaster, you do not have to fight the fellow for it, he will just hand it over.

Guildmaster

Besides the fortress, there are a few other advantages. You automatically become the Hortator for that house, and the disposition of house members (and people in the surrounding area like Balmora, for instance, if you become Grandmaster of House Hlaalu) jumps quite a bit, so it's easier to deal with them. On the flipside, until you become Hortator of Houses Telvanni and Redoran, members of those houses become more hostile towards you.

The fortress is a cool enough reward tho, especially when you can mod it to death! I'm currently working on "Beeblebrox Manor", a mod for Rethas Manor (the House Hlaalu fortress) that will be posted very soon. It expands the fortress considerably with a larger manor house, a HUGE multi-level Redoran architecture basement and a second tower that actually belongs to the player, as well as a smithy, a handful of master trainers and a bevy of rare books and training books. Look for it early next week on most of the mod sites.
