Vengence is Sweet

Vengence is the sequel to Spirit of Excaliber and was a worthy successor. It was released not long after I began my computer gaming addiction and keeps a special place in my memory.

Strangely, I was able to buy Spirit of Excaliber on CD-ROM but I could only ever find Vengence of Excaliber released on four 5.25" Floppy's (which become corrupted long ago). Both games offered very similar gameplay, the main difference being that Vengence is set in Spain and gave you a larger play area with greater variety of opponents.

The gameplay, although simple, is unique. Virgin Interactive combined adventuring, huge battles, and one-on-one knight combat with some RPG elements. They also allowed multiple paths to be taken to reach different areas, allowing greater player freedom than many other games offered at the time.

Unfortunately I was never able to complete Vengence of Excaliber, due to a data error in the final stages. However this was still a great game and one I will remember.
