| Secret Runes - spoiler maybe |
|
I've got the list of all the secret runes and combinations, but can't seem to get any of them to work. Has anyone been able to cast anything from them? The only one I've been able to do is the stairs x 3 which allows you to walk through walls. Can anyone tell me what the other ones do? |

i haven't heard anything about this. what are the secret runes? where do you get them? are they considered a cheat?

I guess they're a kind of cheat, since the only I got to work allowed you to walk through walls. They're posted on:

I don't know how you would be able to figure out the runes on your own, unless you spent hours trying every kind of combination imaginable. |

Thanks. I wish I had found these before. Now I can reinstall Arx and try exploring everything I couldn't get to earlier. So glad I didn't delete my saved games.
btw: does the walk-through-walls allow to you go vertical or inclined, or is it just horizontal movement like the levitate spell?

I didn't give it much of a try, but I believe that you're limited to the incline (or decline) of the floor you are currently on. i.e. it's not like the no clip feature in FPS's where you can fly wherever you want. It would be useful to go through locked doors and stuff. |

The only other one I managed to cast is the "UW" which is a homage to the old Ultima Underworld games, making your Arx look 10 years older then in is: no textures, crappy graphics but funky charcaters jumping around on the screen! 
Useless, but cool...

okay, i looked at the article & didn't find it very helpful. it has pictures of the different symbols but doesn't tell you where to get the runes. or do you need to get runes? also, is there a spell list available?

I do not think the "secret" runes exist in the game. Therefore you do not need them to cast the spells. The only one I got to work is the walk-through-walls that looks like three stairs. A list of secret spells rather than runes would definitely be more helpful. Hopefully they will leak us that spell list as well.

I have done some of the secret "runes" (spells is better).
My game is in French, then maybe the name of the Secret Runes Effect are not the same in English. 
You can see how to draw the Letters on your screen there (look where is the cursor to find the end position) :

You have to keep pressing the Cast Spell Button (Left CTRL by default) to draw all the letters of a Secret Rune. And you will only know if you have succeded to cast it, with the name of the Effect dancing in the middle of your screen.
Visual Effects:
MAR: Marianna.
You see a kind of Pink light around you (looks like you felt in love  ) and you run maybe a little faster. You will see better in the dark with it.
The head of Marianna will be added in the Up Right Corner of your screen, where the mini-map appear. 
SDSD: SuperDeformed.
Big Head Mode. 
UW: UnderWorld.
Turns all in low textures.

!!!! BE Carrefull when using the Secret Rune Below !!!!
The Effects are added to the game itself. The Main Menu and all saved games will have the effects. You will need to repeat it 3 more times to return to normal !!
PLPL : Philnux & Gluonne, you can use this secret runes 3 times and you
will get a different effect each time.
1) The value of your stats and specialisations are changing randomly all the time (about 5 times each second). You will get a Pink & Black Effect
2) Unlimited Random Stats Change ON, but Pink & Black Effect is removed,
3) Unlimited Random Stats Change ON, and you get a White & Grey Effect.
4) Unlimited Random Stats Change OFF, and the White & Grey Effect is removed. All is back to normal ... Finally

Stats Increase/Modifications :
MAX : Fantomacie.
Increase all your stats, gives you all the runes, and lvlup your character to lvl10. 
You have 10 stats points and you get 50 (not the 150) specialisation points to add in the stats you want.

Items Addition:
SAM : BowtoSamy&Annie. 
You receive, I suppose, the Inut's Magic Bow 2x3 inventory slot.
It turns normal arrows into magic Arrows (you need to buy or find the Arrows thought).
POM : Grosbility
You receive, I suppose, the Inut's Magic Sword 3x3 inventory slot, but the problem is you cannot use it or wear it if you don't have 18+ in Str

Usefull Secret Runes:
RAF : RAFMode.
It allows you to run very fast. 
I believe it is the same (or maybe faster) Speed Run Spell that you can cast with the Runes, but you don't need Runes, is unlimited in time and doesn't use Mana.
SOS : TempleofElementalLavis, very usefull.
Unhide the 8 maps in your journal !! Even the levels you have never been
Stairs Drawing x3: PassWall.
You go through all the walls , but you can only walk horizontally. You will walk everywhere at the same horizontal level. 
You can use it to pass locked doors, but be careful because you can start event to soon, like when you enter the house on the left of the Entrance of the Crypt in Arx City.

Secret Runes I didn't unlock:
KAOM Rune x20:
I have tried the 20x Kaom Rune, but even if I did 20x the move straight, without any mistakes between the 20, I got nothing.... 
UP & DOWN Drawning x3:
I have tried this, but after I do these 3 UP/DOWN, my game freeze for 1 or 2 second like it is loading something (the other secret runes did the same before it unlock the effects), but nothing happened....
If someone has succeded to unlock these 2 Secret Runes, I would be happy to know what is the Effects they do.
