How important are these advanced tech items? |
|
I keep finding computer chips, black boxes and other hi-tech stuff. I realize a Gadgeteer could use this to do many fabulous things but I'm not running a Gadgeteer. Do I still need this stuff? If so, why and how do I find out when to use it? Any assistance would be appreciated. _________________ Shadow

You will have (or may already have had) a chance to recruit a gadg RPC if you so desire. If not, feel free to sell off the gadget components. The black box is story related- you won't be able to sell it. You can tell what is a gadget by right clicking on the item to bring up the info screen. Near the top will be a line that will say "gadget" or "other" (for items that are not). _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

I'm not sure, but I think that Gadgeteers of any level can put gadgets together, but they need a certain Engineering score to actually be able to use them.
I'm thinking about this because some of the higher level completed gadgets sell for a LOT of money. So, you can get all the parts, go hire a Gadgeteer to put them together, then dismiss him and get rich by selling the stuff he made for you. |

I'm not sure whether a gadget's level requirement refers to assembly, usage, or both. I do know that every gadget, like every bard's instrument, has both a skill and level requirement.
As for selling gadgets, by the time you can assemble many things, money isn't usually much of a problem. Most of the combinations have a piece that is located in areas the party won't visit until mid or even end-game.
Gadgeteer for profit is certainly a valid consideration, though. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

As far as I remember (been a while since I played a Gageteer), Engineering skill is used for item assembly. I don't think it's used for being able to use the things you build. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please. _________________ The Wizard is * * * IN * * * |

Yep. One interesting thing to consider when choosing a "sacrifice" - enthrallment does reduce engineering skill! _________________ The world itself shifts and changes and fades to mist like the strings of a minstrel's harp, and mayhap the dreams we forge are more enduring than the works of kings and gods.-Robert E. I never worry about enthrallment. I kill her before i leave the Rift again.
I've never had a problem with the Rapax turning red, just got outta there without killing any of what she summons. _________________ If thousand-year-old family traditions are so important to you, why do you have indoor plumbing and electricity in your family's house? |
