Is it possible to increase the draw distance in Gothic 2 beyond 300%? |

Depending on your Graphics card/system, it is possible to reach 400  |

Well now thats a bit complicated,
I don't know all the possibilities of various graphics cards, but first you must read and study the G2 .ini file and take note of the various comments written next to the settings. some of the older Ati-Radeons can't do it. |

So what about an FX 5600.Does it worth trying to make the distance at 400%

Thats a good card,
Personally i wouldn't change the settings unless you have a problem,?
is the distance perspective fading tapering off, or do you get weird effects in the distance?
If you have a problem, thats another matter, - maybe read the FAQ
If you get seriously stuck with the distance thing, maybe i'll swap pc's to try it because my game pc isn't connected. |

I have a128 MEG RADEON 9800 PRO, so I'm quite confident my gfx card can easily manage over 300%
On 300% with max details, 16AF, 6AA I get over 30fps constantly.
So HOW do you increase the view distance? |

Well, one way is to activate marvin, press F2, and type in zfogzone. I think its more than 400% though.

the distance view can be increased probably alot times more but it is useless cos the game world isnt that long , so u gonna see beyond the game allready after that |

group1, I have not tried, but I saw those in the Gothic.INI file and I suspect they are related to F1-F4 in the game. Those are probably the far clipping plane distances. You could try higher values.

SHORTKEY2FARPLANEDIST=1.2
SHORTKEY3FARPLANEDIST=2
SHORTKEY4FARPLANEDIST=3

The 2 options I use are "zfogzone" and "zhighqualityrender"
I wouldnt try it unless you have a 128 meg video card and at least 512 RAM.
Gothic 2 has a bug about fogzone thou everytime you hit escape or save a game manually it resets your fog distance to your max setting in the options, but doesnt reset if you use the quicksave function. |
