Hokey newsbit headings?

What's with the hokey newsbit headings all of a sudden? I feel like I'm in a Twighlight Zone/Howdy Doody show from the 50's:

time to "lock and load" and shoot on over

Mount up...it's time to trot on over

time to rev up the old web browser

Cool beans...

Time to roll down the window and let down your hair

These really sound unprofessional and amateurish.
Can we drop this? Most of your readers are intelligent adults. We don't need a "phrase of the day" tagged onto news.

That's true - a cliche is like a red rag to a bull for some people. You think we should avoid them like the plague, then?

I have to agree; the new "tone" is annoying. I like my news delivered in a no-nonsense fashion. That's why I don't watch news on TV; the "cutesy" stuff is a turn-off.

Thanks for making us aware that this style of reporting news is not appreciated . The newsteam QA team is currently working on improving the way our automated word processors construct sentences. We're hoping to have a resolution to these issues real soon and apologize for any past inconvenience.
Be aware, however, that we haven't figured out yet how to exchange personality chips. We can thus not guarantee a flawless transition but are hoping that serious improvements will be made quickly. Thanks for understanding.

To be honest, I enjoyed the different tone. Each news poster is different and I like diversity. If everyone posted the same way, it would be boring. Lighten up fellas, this is a game site, not CNN!!

That's funny 'cause I noticed the change too recently. I didn't think it improved things any... but I didn' t hate it either. I just thought "Wow, whoever posted this one should have the screen name 'The Corn King'!

Disclaimer: If there really is a person out there roaming the forums with the name "Corn King," then I'm really sorry to have used your name in humor.

Didn't realize at the time that it was only one person who was prefacing his news with inane headers. I thought it was a change in policy for the site and was hoping to nix it quickly. Sorry Kristophe, that kind of stuff drives me nuttier.

If it's just one person, it's easy to just read the name and skip a few lines before reading the relevant info

I apologize, Kristophe. You should not alter your style just because an idiot like myself finds it annoying; you need to be who you are. Although I find the cornball cliches a little grating (after all, I have to be true to myself, also), it certainly is an extremely minor issue in the grand scheme of things (is there a grand scheme?). Anyway, just be yourself and report the news in any manner you see fit. (P.S. I do like your new "tone", though.... )
