Curious about the barrier... (Spoilers) |
|
After you killed the sleeper, the barrier disappeared.... but shouldnt it have shrunk back to just including the old camp and old mine (thats how big the mages originally planned planned to make it). And anyone outside the old camp/mine should have died as the barrier shrunk. It doesnt really matter but im kinda curious if i missed something or if the developers missed something... |

MMMMM good question indeed because the mages created it, but the sleeper just made it expand. But maybe because it was the sleeper who controlled the barrier now. otherwhise the mages who created the barrier could destroy it back just like nothing if it wasn't for the sleeper? _________________ Want to become a vampire? a warrior in the battle between vampires and werewolves?

My impression was that once the sleeper took over the barrier and expanded it, the Mages had reversed all their spells ect. to create it in an attempt do undo what they thought was their fault at first. So once the Sleeper was gone, there would be no spells to maintain the barrier at all. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

Once the mages created the barrier the Sleeper took over control. The Sleeper also provided the barrier with energie. When you killed the Sleeper (you didn't actualy killed but send it back to another realm) the source of energie of the barrier was gone, so the barrier collapced.
At least, that's my version of the situation. |

Something just occured to me today while i was playing: saturas told me about the creation of the barrier. and the 13th magician who was in control over it all: XARDAS. the reason the barrier expanded was because xardas wanted too. It knew that the sleeper excisted and needed it's power but he needed to find a way to get to the sleeper for his powers. So he closed it in the barier together with the most vicious warriors: all the prisoners.
edit: maybe it wasn't even the sleeper who took control over the barrier but it was xardas who made the barrier collapse when he felt the sleeper had vanished because the barrier was of no use any more. He had the time and studdied enough over Beliar. _________________ Want to become a vampire? a warrior in the battle between vampires and werewolves?

Very interesting theory
And it can be true, since Xardas told the hero at the end of GothicII he was planning to steal the power of the Sleeper (that could explain why he showed up in the Sleepers temple at the end of the game).
Maybe he just linked the barrier to the Sleeper to drain it's power and make it easier for him to steal the Sleepers power. |
