Morrowind
This past summer I had said that Morrowind had not appealed to me and that I found something lacking.
After having started the game over and having completed it with a different character, I must say my experience with the game was entirely different:
It is one of my favorite games and that relationship with its story-world will resonate for some time.
I think two things changed my perception:
(1) I played a character that did not use unarmed (punching) combat
(2) I was not physically ill while playing
(1) contributed significantly to improving moment-to-moment gameplay. This time around I played an Imperial Cultist Mystic with a habit for searching for the truth while snaeking around through other people's stuff.
(2) contributed to a lack of nausea
The more I think about the extent of consistency in the story-telling of Morrowind, the more I am amazed. Just the breadth of viewpoints on any given story is amazing in its cultural context.
Its as if the Morrowind team had a department of anthropologists hanging out in their story-arc office. Its simply amazing.
Well done, Bethesda.
