Is there dependance between my level and monster hitpoints

(I dont like it. For example in Wizardy VIII I was not able to finished one creature, so I trained myself and try it again. Shit, that creature had more hit points and I was not able to knock it down)

So is this game like this?

no stuff like that. some monsters are harder then others. eg scavenger is weaker than an orc

The better you are the better you are.
Monsters will always be the same.

Thus, if you are on a very high level on the final chapter, the game will be alot easier than it would be if you where on a lesser level.
