G3 will end the Gothic series afaik.
Still, if I'm going to look back, I might as well say what I look forward to.
What I love(or think I will love) about G3:
-Being able to smack the living daylight out of Xardas
-Being re-united with my old friends(Gorn, Diego etc)
-Helping out Lee again
-Kill at least 1000 orcs, orc-killing is fun.
-Being able to recapture towns originally taken by orcs during the war(read official info thread).
-Getting even more kickass magic.
-Meeting the King!
-Meeting the head of the paladins/magicians of fire.
That's pretty much it for now, and might I add - I just can't wait for this to happen! |

Nope, just pretending we did, and we know quite a lot about the game form different interviews etc.
Also, PB has stated that G3 will end the Gothic series and give answers to the Xardas, our hero, different gods, Chosen One etc etc questions. Whether they make an add-on or a 4 at a later point is uncertain, but I honestly don't think so.
After Xardas' betrayel at the end of Gothic 2 I really hope I can beat him into a pulp. Twisting the truth like that just so he could get his hands on the Undead Dragons' powers, damn bastard, hehe.
Lee will probably take revenge on the king and the entire kingdom. In G2(when you play as a mercenary) he seems rather pissed off at everything on the mainland, so I'm betting he doesn't stop with the nobles who framed him.
Milten was talking about starting his own Monestary in G2, so maybe he will in G3?
Cor Angar was talking about becoming a farmer because he was tired of all the fighting, so maybe we'll see him on a farm at some point?
Still lots of questions unanswered, and I can't wait to get them answered, but it's still over 6 months(probably a whole year) till we get to play G3 I'm afraid. |

PB said that whatever they do after G3 "is a business decision" and "hasn´t been decided yet". It is possible they just start a new Gothic trilogy. Imagine the international markets are successfully opened by G3. Then PB would be stupid not to cash-in on that.
Concerning the add-on ... of course they have to say they´re not sure, because they want people to buy the full game on day 1 instead of waiting for the gold edition. I´m pretty sure at least 1 add-on is already intergrated into the budget plan. It´s easy money and it keeps the content and asset departments busy while the technicians and lead designers prepare the next game. Another point is that JoWooD can´t afford to leave money laying on the table. They will insist on an add-on because it increases G3´s life cycle by 2 products (add-on and gold edition).
A key question is "Who owns the Gothic IP?". If PB is in control it might be an idea to pull a Bioware and oursource Gothic 4 or (another !? ) add-on to another developer. Then they can "produce" this game and create another IP. This gives them both safety through Gothic 4 and more leverage through the new series. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

But then it wouldn't be Gothic anymore . For me at last. But who knows perhaps it will be like System Shock. The sequel was made by another developer but it was still very good. |

KotOR2 was as good(at least almost) as KotOR1, but whether PB is big enough to pull a BioWare is hard to say. PB, despite having great success with Gothic, still isn't very big compared to companies like BioWare, but Gothic has secured PB a head start. From now on they can basically do whatever they wish, and I'll be looking forward to see what they do after Gothic. Personally I don't think they should drag Gothic out too much just to make money. Series that become too long tends to lose it's deep story and get the "we wanted to make more money so we just threw out this piece of junk" feeling.
An add-on for G3 is to be expected though, like Gorath said - it's an easy way of making some extra cash(you use the same engines etc, all you have to do is write a good story and make some interesting new stuff and you're all set).
In PB they are probably discussing, as we speak, about future projects, and to the gaming market they look very promising. If they keep this up I do believe they are going to make a lot of good games, even if it's not located in the Gothic universe. |

Strangest thing that happened to me was when these bones suddenly attacked me. They chased me all the way back to one of the cities, which was already under attack by bandits. Well, the bones ended, giving up the chase right at the gate, but then I was shot by a bandit and fell down. Then a bunch of T-Rex's stormed the gate and ignored me because they thought I was dead and killed everything in the city then left. Thus, I was the only survivor. |

... and then, on the capital city wall, in heavy rain and lightning, when Xardas and Nameless Hero stopped the fight for a short breather, Xardas said: "Vatras never told you what happened to your father?". Nameless Hero replied "He said enough! He said that you killed him!". Xardas replied, lightning booming behind him, "No, I am your father! Search your feelings, you know it is the truth!"... _________________ Been there, done that . . . |
