Guys! I was expecting some sympathy! Just read the part about my internet connection. Doesn't that make you cry? |

Aye. I keep it simple: If something's fun or you can learn from it in one way or another, it's not a waste of time. Fun makes good memories, and memories are precious, at least to me. That's it. Yup. |

Of course games aren't a waste of time! Games are entertainment and entertainment is why I put up with the more crappy parts of life. Doing the things that aren't a waste of time allow you to do the things that are (i.e. the fun parts). Working and doing chores all the time isn't living, it's slaving, no thanks!
No, games aren't a waste of time, they're the payoff.

I agree. Games are not a waste of time, they are the reason time was invented. |

I have seen a payoff for this waste of time for a guy who was very good at Doom of all things, he gets to drive a Ferrari for his troubles

He's sold the car, you know. http://rome.ro He says it's because he's not had a chance to drive it much, but those of us who have tried Daikatana have a better guess. |

Those that criticize me for playing computer games are the same people that spend hours and hours of their free time vegetating in front of the television set, yeah I'd MUCH rather sit in front of the tube and have my brain turn into mush.
At least computer games have problem solving and interactivity.... |

Yup! I consider watching TV a MAJOR waste of time. Really, that's mainly why I'm not watching it anymore. But hey! Instead of learning for my upcoming exams, what do I do? I play, play, play! |

Games touch things that are very deep psychological needs in most people. The need to have fun, and the need for significance. Ever see a game where the primary player is merely a
bystander? It's like you are in a dream where
you are usually the most important person; everything revolves around you. That is why games are so attractive. They probably are just
a waste of time. But I would probably just waste my time doing something else. (Like posting to message boards). |
