Who wants to wield a shield? |
|
I think one of the main aspects that G1 melee combat lacked was the use of shields. Just think of the possibilities. How cool would it be to be able to block swords, arrows, hell, even deflect spells /w a magical shield! And realistically, if they PB plans on introducing dragons into G2, it's gonna take more than just holding a skinny 'lil blade in front of you to stop that fiery breath! Don't you think somone in the Colony would of thought to take a barrel lid or somethin' and tie it to thier arm? Lemme know what ya think folks... _________________ "Who is more the fool-the fool, or the fool that follows?"

No matter what we think, there will be no shields in GII. _________________ Jaz |

I think that it"ll be good if there will be some sheilds, they are going to be usefull if you will have to fight dragons.(6) _________________ Hell" oooo ! |

Well, they've already said there's no shields. So it's a moot discussion.
Maybe dragonslayers have to have some special armour... like minecrawler plates or dragon scales etc. Who knows? |

I wouldn't mind the ability to use a shield, but it is not a major point. In actuality, the designers could say something like "It would hamper one's combat abilities and endurance levels over extended periods of time." And most people would become submissive. But then there are those who would remain intransigent and would need extra help... *Mumble* _________________ Make good choices. |

A shield evens out one-handed and two-handed weapons because you can't hold a shield with a two handed weapon. _________________ =Moderator of The RPGDot Shadows=

nice. it is just too bad that all the dragon slayers suffer from a bad cough. between all the smoke & asbestos in their lungs what chance do they have? dragon's may not kill you, but all that second hand smoke sure will. _________________ "The origin of things, if things have an origin, cannot be revealed to me, if revealed at all, until I have travelled very far from it, and many revolutions of the sun must precede my first dawn. The speed of one handed and two handed is the equalieser.
One handed weapons are faster. _________________ The original RED poster (retired now)

hey are they going to have any two handed weapons, as in one weapon in each hand? it would be cool to get a pair of katana and go to town. but, i guess if they aren't even including shields double weapons are doubtful. _________________ "The origin of things, if things have an origin, cannot be revealed to me, if revealed at all, until I have travelled very far from it, and many revolutions of the sun must precede my first dawn. I think double weapons makes the fighting to complecated and it's maybe to hard to program.
Would be fun if you could fight like that. _________________ The original RED poster (retired now)

Skeletons in Gothic had shields (little round ones). But I'm sure that was just cosmetic. _________________ (@) |

I think introducing new weapons to GOTHIC II (not just shields or double weapons, but also spears, poleaxes and throwing weapons like axes and kniwes) would add more fun to it. I do not know why are not considering this... |

Probably because they are using the old Gothic engine which had certain limitations built into it. Additionally, as discussed in another thread, they are pressed for time. So adding new weapon functionality, and spending months testing it and balancing it is out of the question. _________________ (@) |
