Mount & Blade: v.730 Screenshots

With the current release of Mount&Blade at .711, a batch of screenshots from a future v.730 have been released at the <a href="http://www.taleworlds.com/mb_ss.html" target="_blank">Taleworlds</a> site. They appear to reveal additions such as castle sieges, more towns and grass - we've thrown a selection into our <a href="http://newspics.rpgdot.com/galview.php?level=3&sort=&from=0&d2=1154&d3=Screenshots&d4=&d5=" target="_blank">gallery</a> or hit the link above for all of them. Here's some samples: <br> <br><table cellpadding="1" align="center"><tr><td width="200"><a href="http://newspics.rpgdot.com/imageview.php?dir=gallery/1154/Screenshots/&name=8.jpg" target="ImageView"><img src="http://newspics.rpgdot.com/gallery/1154/Screenshots/tn_8.jpg" border=0 alt="Display full image"></a></td><td><a href="http://newspics.rpgdot.com/imageview.php?dir=gallery/1154/Screenshots/&name=21.jpg" target="ImageView"><img src="http://newspics.rpgdot.com/gallery/1154/Screenshots/tn_21.jpg" border=0 alt="Display full image"></a></td><td><a href="http://newspics.rpgdot.com/imageview.php?dir=gallery/1154/Screenshots/&name=35.jpg" target="ImageView"><img src="http://newspics.rpgdot.com/gallery/1154/Screenshots/tn_35.jpg" border=0 alt="Display full image"></a></td></tr></table>

I finally gave this one a try. It does a marvellous job of reproducing the 'feel' of medieval combat. In particular, Mount & Blade captures the feeling of furious hatred a knight felt for his horse. You'll find yourself getting right into the spirit of things, screaming "Turn, you fucking pig!" at least three times per battle. Highly recommended.

Get a better horse and what you'll feel is love - err, well at least affection. M&B is brilliant and it is about to get better when 0.730 comes out. (which should be on monday).

Well I downloaded this finally. I only played it for all of 10 seconds but I just can't believe a two person team did this. It looks really great. The controls feel right - no goofy camera issues. Graphics and textures look professional. And I havent even gotten a horse yet!

Huge Kudo's to the Taleworlds team.

Abbaon,
I don't understand the hostility.

I have no reason to act as a shill for M&B. I genuinely think it deserves all the attention it can get. I just recognized in your post my own frustration with the lame horse you get in the beginning.

The plant and the virus bits I didn't get at all, but maybe it's better that way.

It made me giggle, so I posted it. I wouldn't worry about it.

Plant (fourth definition), virus. People don't typically refer to viral marketers as viruses, but they should.

I haven't tried the new build yet, but I hope it adds more to the longevity. Mount and Blade has been one of those games that start off great, but then once you build your character a few levels the experience just seems to fade. The lack of story elements are what hurts it IMO.

Either way M&B is a very admirable effort, and I look forward to seeing how it's potential is played out.

Abbaon,

You are extending my knowledge of american-english slang.

However, I disagree with you on all three accounts. I suppose you could have called me a fanboy and that would have still been fair.

Since I have already been recognized as the covert marketer for M&B, I'll quote my viral marketing line...

...and point out that I was wrong. They made it on Sunday. 22 minutes before midnight, but Sunday nevertheless.
