Microsoft Being Sued Over Alleged XBox 360 Defects

In the "gee I wondered how long it would take for THIS to happen" department, Microsoft is being sued for unspecified damages by a Chicago area man. His lawsuit seeks to represent those whose XBox 360s are overheating and suffering from other defects.
The proposed class action claims that in Microsoft's bid to gain share in the $25 billion global video game market, the company was so intent on releasing the Xbox 360 before competing next-generation machines from Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE - news). and Nintendo Co Ltd. that it sold a "defectively designed" product.

Robert Byers, who brought the suit, said the power supply and central processing unit in the Xbox 360 overheat, affecting heat-sensitive chips and causing the console to lock up.
Read the whole article at Yahoo News.

If I bought an Xbox360 that seemed defective I'd probably just return it for another one and if the store I bought it from didn't have another one available I'd just send it to MS... I mean I'd at least try taht first before I'd file a lawsuite... that's just me though...

I know it isn't right, but I just can't help but snicker at the people who pushed and shoved and waited and pre-ordered and got themselves all up in a heated frenzy to be FIRST to get the latest console when it is pretty much common knowledge that the first few batches of a new console inevitably turn up with some kind of flaw.

Ah well I just grab the popcorn and watch all the fun...

I know some people who tried to get a refund or get it repaired but Microsoft wouldn't give them a refund and the only thing they got was a copy of Perfect Dark Zero.
