Carpe Diem: Journal #1 @ RPG Vault

Persistent Worlds' Ken Johnston offers some insight into the method behind the madness that is Carpe Diem.
Introduction

Hello, and welcome to this article about Carpe Diem. I should first tell you why I am involved in this project. I have loved playing massively multiplayer games for as long as I can remember. To me, they are the future of gaming. Once you have experienced a game where you can interact naturally with other people, it is very hard to go back to the standard ones.

However, MMO games have a big disadvantage - it is very hard to tell a big story in a virtual world with thousands of players. How can you make each player a hero?

When will developers wake up and realize that MOST people want the option to play a mmorpg solo. Not getting the best loot is okay with them because they also realize that something extra has to go to those willing to find a group, put up with an idiot or two in said group, wait around to get the group ready, etc, etc.Vangard will come to know their mistake when it launches,Dungeon and Dragons already feels their mistake and Carpe Diem, well good luck...you're going to need it.

Amen, Methusala! Did you see that D&DO is going to add solo options in their next big update? Post mortem unfortunately.
