I killed Kharim. Am I screwed?

In the first chapter I'm trying to score some points with Diego. He suggests that I visit Scatty and fight Kirgo and Kharim in the arena. After a tough file I managed to beat Kirgo. I mentioned it to Scatty and he was impressed. So was Diego. Next, I come back to the arena to challenge Kharim. He was really tough, but I managed to put him down. In fact he is deader than a doornail. He is lying face down in the hall leading to the arena and he ain't ever getting up. Strickly dead. I went to tell Scatty and Diego, but it was late at night and they were in their huts. I went to Diego's hut first and spoke to him. He commented that I should challenge Kharim. No big deal. Perhaps he hasn't gotten the word yet. I go back to Scatty's hut and Scatty doesn't even give me the option of even telling him that I beat (let alone killed) Kharim. I come back the next day and the results are the same. Did I screw up? Is this glitch in the software? Do I have to revert back to an earlier saved game and challenge Kharim during the day time? Will my having killed Kharim prevent me from accessing chapter 2?
Please let me know. Thanks.

Fight aren't everything

You got the experince from the kill, and fights aren't the only way to get noticed by Diego. Make sure you got karim's stuff though.

I appreciate your prompt response. You are correct, I did pick up the experience points and of course I took all of his valuables. Great game.
